The Code of Practice on Protecting the Confidentiality of Service User Information provides support and guidance for all those involved in health and social care in terms of decisions about the protection, use and disclosure of service user information. The Code was initially developed in 2009 and was updated in early 2012, following a comprehensive public consultation during 2011. The Code was again reviewed in late 2018, in light of the impact of GDPR and DPA2018.
A Staff Guidance Leaflet and Service User Leaflet are also available and have been updated in line with the recent review of the Code of Practice on Protecting the Confidentiality of Service User Information (2012).
